Your name is derived from Lakshimi, the Hindu Goddess of wealth and prosperity. Why were you drawn to this name?
Lakshimi is the name I was given years ago after going through some personal transformations, one of which was being enlighten by my God-Mother so that we could worship the divine within each of us. I chose to embrace Goddess Lakshimi because she is Mother to the entire world. So I guess I am “Big Mama” in more than one sense of the word. My worship is centered on the Divine feminine and I look for and see the light in all of us. My job is to guide others in making that light as bright as possible. Now, since my naming ceremony at my temple, I have taken the name Lakshimi legally. So, Yes, Lakshimi is my name, my real name…(smile) the Hindu Goddess of wealth and prosperity, both material and spiritual.

What is the significance of the beautiful jewelry you often wear across your forehead? I am glad you asked this question; they signify crowns of love, light, beauty, spirituality and prosperity. I seek to invoke the Goddess Lakshimi so I want to dress and carry myself as I believe she would have me adorned. Where can one obtain this type of adornment? Some of my headpieces are from the Renaissance fairs all over the U.S., many others were hand made for me specifically and they would not be available to others as they are one of a kind. I have not found any particular place that one can purchase them from.

How did you come to be so skilled at lecturing and doing demonstrations?
Years of practice and loving what I do! Very very early in life, somewhere around age two, I learned that I love to talk…(smile). Teaching is something I have done in many arenas: from Girl Scouts to Electrical Systems supervision and many things in between. Debating club and speech club, back in school, were a passion of mine and I believe this was a great asset in my journey as a teacher/presenter/lecturer.

Which was your favorite lecture of all time and why? I do not have one favorite. Here are some I really enjoy teaching and why. CBT 101; Limey’s bits, need I say more? BDSM Spirituality; because the class goes through a metamorphosis every time it is presented. The Dominant Mind; self introspection and hopefully keep some other dominant from making the same mistakes I have made. Making the transition from Cyber to reality- helpful hints to those who want to leave their comfort zone of anonymity to the wonderful world of real life. And Forbidden Fruit-the things we do but are afraid to talk about; makes you think what IS truly forbidden and perhaps rethink those very same things.

What is Goddess Lakshimi's forbidden fruit, or is there anything you are afraid to talk about at all? There is nothing I am afraid to talk about. Embarrassed maybe, shy about perhaps, but afraid no. What would make Goddess blush, you may ask? but I will never tell. (Smile)

One of your nicknames is "Mistress Safety". What made you become so dedicated to safety in bdsm, and what, in your opinion, are the most important safety guidelines people should follow in this lifestyle?
A near and dear friend, Samantha, died in this lifestyle. Why? The dominant did not know how to handle her after a particularly difficult and intense, both physical and mental, scene. Can you explain what the difference is between protocol and etiquette in the bdsm lifestyle? Heh heh heh... in my book I state "because protocols, manners, rules and etiquettes are so interwoven and so differently accepted I will NOT try to say what is what.

However to me personally, protocols deal with rules, some person's rules or rules of a certain House. For example; In the house of Lakshimi all slaves shall be nude in the dungeon, or all slaves must kneel before serving a drink to their Master/Mistress. Etiquette deals with manners, such as please and thank you, the difference between excuse me and pardon me. A gentleman opening a door for a lady, which fork or knife to use at a formal dinner, who is supposed to sit where at a formal dinner, or at a formal wedding, what can you wear after 5 ? Before 5? etc.

The Ms. World Leather title honors leather women who are dedicated to making a difference in their communities. What was the toughest aspect of being crowned Ms. World Leather 2003? The traveling every weekend while nursing nine herniated disks. What was the most satisfying? Knowing that my message was heard and well received. I don’t think there is one person in the lifestyle that has not at least heard of “Get the 411” on breast cancer early detection saves lives! Why are you so passionate about breast cancer awareness? I had a breast cancer scare. I found a lump and after it stayed the same size for a year it began to grow at an alarming rate. It had all the characteristics of a malignant tumor. At the time that I went in for surgery I signed a paper to have my right breast removed if the pathology showed that it was cancerous when they removed the lump. Turned out I had a severely infected milk duct and had to have part of my right breast removed because the infection was so extensive. It was after this that I started in on my mother to have a mammogram, which she had not had for

years. We found out on the day before Thanksgiving that she had invasive cancer in three different sites of her right breast. She had a modified radical mastectomy. She is now a survivor and this is why I am so passionate. First it was I, then it was my Mama!

Many lifestylers say they will provide references upon request. Has anybody ever asked you for a reference and how important do you think they are in this lifestyle?
I can honestly say that no one has ever asked me for references, it seems that my reputation precedes me in most cases. I have given them without being asked for them. I think references are a very important tool to be used in our lifestyle wisely. However, I do think people should investigate both Positive and negative references and then take a moment to meet the person and make an evaluation for one’s self.

It has been noted that the Goddess has a slight shoe fetish. How many pairs of shoes do you own, and can a Goddess like yourself ever have too many shoes in your opinion? Now let’s see... I have 69 pairs of shoes in my one walk-in closet. I have 20 pairs of black shoes in the guest room closet, 10 pair in the front hall closet, 7 pair in the downstairs rack. I think that I will say around 120 pairs of shoes, and that is only an estimate... and the answer is a definite no, a Goddess can never have too many pairs of shoes.

What is the most significant part of the process when training a man in the art of cross dressing? The most significant part is whether or not they know how to be a lady. How to walk, how to sit, how to talk, fluff their hair, how to hold their hands and many more things. My training pays attention to all details, big and small.

One of your interests is Rose Petal Kisses. What exactly is a Rose Petal Kiss, and how does one go about getting some?
Some secrets a goddess must keep to herself, however all one has to do is ask and maybe they will get a rose petal kiss or a kiss from a rose……(smile) and do remember most roses have thorns.
